NSW 2013 – Its Coming Home! [The Bid!!]

Guys

We have a fantastic opportunity to show the rest of Table and National what it is to be a Tabler in the Area it all began!

Following Wednesday nights Area meeting and the outstanding support voiced I have contacted the National Sports officer and set the process in motion for bringing the National Sports Weekend home to Norwich in 2014.

For those of you who do not know what this is have a look at:

www.nsw2012.co.uk

North Walsham and Kings Lynn attended this year and other Tables from our Area have attended in the past (Harleston, I believe still have the boules trophy from last year!)

The work involved is not hard but it requires commitment and most of us could organise this in our sleep.

I hear you ask:

  • What does this mean to me?

This is your chance to get involved rather than moaning that National never do anything near us.  Think of the publicity, the chance to raise the profile of Table in your area, the membership potential.

  • Can I be bothered?

I do not know, can you?  What makes you show up to you table meetings, why not invest some energy and see what you get back?

  • No one from Area will support it?

If you all think that, then we have not got a chance!  With the skill set we have in the Area this should be no problem at all, Downham Market and Hunstanton both organise Firework displays, North Walsham have attended a lot of the NSW weekends and know what works and what does not.  Most of us have a Charter Night or Ladies Night, a lot of us manage our own business’.

  • What have National ever done for us?

Raise your subscriptions, raise your subscriptions, oh yes and raise your subscriptions.  Being serious, the opportunities are out there, you have to get involved to make a difference!

Now the important bit – What is the commitment?

  • Nearer the time we will need 60 tablers (that’s right 60) to steward etc over the weekend.  There are around 160 of us in the Area, on Wednesday night we had 50 guys at the 5 a side.  We will need more of you than currently get involved.
  • At the start of the year we are going to have to set up a NSW 2014 Council to look at sports, accommodation, transport, entertainment, etc but we do have time on our side at the moment.
  • Right now we need a NSW 2014 Executive.  We are looking to put our bid together over the next month, with a bid review weekend by National towards the middle/end of October 2011.

I am looking for volunteers for the NSW 2014 Exec.  There is already two of us, myself and Mark Older (Area 6 Vice Chairman).  The posts for the Exec are Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. The Treasurer needs to be an accountant. The National Sports Officer – Chris Vincent will also sit on the Exec to help us through.  Mark and I are happy to sit as Vice and Chair, unless anybody feels otherwise.

If you want to know more, have some ideas, want to volunteer email me, call me? I have a pack that I can send through that will shed some light on the nuts and bolts.

Please do not leave it until the weekend.

I will keep you posted on our website – www.roundtablearea6.org.uk

Yours in Table

Spencer Burrell

Area 6 -  Chairman
